Stamps Sign Four

The Calgary Stampeders have signed national receivers Austen Hartley and Michael Klukas as well as international receiver Armanti Foreman and international linebacker Warren Long.

All four players – including Calgary products Hartley and Klukas – spent time on the Stamps’ practice roster in 2018.

Austen Hartley

Hartley was selected in the sixth round (54th overall) by the Ottawa RedBlacks in the 2017 CFL draft. He dressed for 11 regular-season games for Ottawa in 2017 and also played in the Eastern Semi-Final where he had two catches for 57 yards. After being released by the RedBlacks on Sept. 14, 2018, he was added to the Stamps’ practice roster on Oct. 3.

Hartley played four seasons (2013-16) at the University of Calgary and had 85 catches for 1,334 yards and eight touchdowns. He earned Canada West all-star honours in 2016 as he led the conference with an average of 110.2 receiving yards per game. Prior to playing for the Dinos, he attended Calgary’s Bishop Grandin High School.

Michael Klukas

Klukas spent 10 weeks on the Stamps’ practice roster to start the 2018 season. During his final year at the University of Calgary in 2017, he made 46 catches for 739 yards in eight games. He shared the team lead with seven receiving touchdowns and had four 100-yard games.

Over five seasons (2013-17) with the Dinos, Klukas had 82 receptions for 1,253 yards. He also saw special-teams action and in 2015 he returned a punt 110 yards for a touchdown against UBC.

Klukas is an alumnus of Calgary’s St. Mary’s High School.

Armanti Foreman

International

Foreman signed with the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent after playing 44 games and making 21 starts over four seasons at the University of Texas. Over his career with the Longhorns, he made 86 catches for 1,070 yards and 11 touchdowns. He added nine carries for 75 yards and one major, 21 kickoff returns for 414 yards and 11 punt returns for 68 yards.

He is the twin brother of Houston Texans running back D’Onta Foreman.

Warren Long

International

Long joined the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent on May 4 and later signed with the New York Giants on Aug. 20. He was added to the Stamps’ practice roster on Oct. 3.

He played his first three seasons (2013-15) at Northwestern as a running back, carrying the ball 105 times for 517 yards and five touchdowns. After suffering an injury during his first game of the 2016 season, he was granted a medical redshirt. Long returned for his senior season in 2017 as a linebacker and made 21 total tackles and added one sack and two forced fumbles.
