Dominant.

That’s exactly what Stamps defensive lineman Micah Johnson was throughout the 2018 campaign.

The sixth-year man played 17 games, while making 28 defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, and forcing three fumbles. Johnson also finished the season one back of the league lead in sacks with fourteen quarterback takedowns.

Calgary’s star defensive tackle added another four tackles and a sack en route to helping the Red & White secure their 8th Grey Cup in franchise history.

“I’ve been through so much adversity; there have been so many ups-and-downs throughout my career. Coming up here and tearing my ACL in my first two years, it was just that grind, so much behind the scenes when there aren’t any cameras around. You have to be so self-motivated to get through a lot of those low times, so for that to be paying off right now at this point, it’s huge.”

His incredible season resulted in a nomination for Most Outstanding Defensive player, a West Division All-Star nod, and a CFL All-Star selection. This is the third consecutive season that Johnson has been a division and league All-Star.

The outside linebacker turned defensive lineman has improved as an inside pass rusher every year since joining the Stamps in 2013. And he believes he is still getting better. The 30-year old will be looking to continue his run of dominance in 2019.
