HUFNAGEL ON BO LEVI MITCHELL

“He’s not signed yet. We’re talking and I’m very optimistic something will get done, I just don’t know when. So we’re plugging away. I have a budget with Bo Levi. I said I’m optimistic, but does it fit the budget? We’ll have to wait and see. I’m optimistic, I have a plan, and I hope it works.”

“It’s difficult and it’s been a confusing and stressful couple of weeks but you have to deal with it. That’s the way the game is right now and that’s why I’m leaning towards being optimistic that Bo will be a Stampeder and I’m conducting business as though he will be. I have a good number and I’m hoping that number works.”

ON MITCHELL POSSIBLY SIGNING WITH AN NFL TEAM:

“I’m not quite sure about him signing down south. I don’t think the interest is as strong today as it was when he was doing all the workouts. I talked to his agent every other day and I know that Dave has kept pretty constant communication with Bo. I just think right now we need to establish where we can go, what he wants and who’s going to set the bar out there with the quarterbacks. We’ll start following.”

ON THE QUALITY OF THE FREE AGENT POOL:

“Because there’s such a high number period, there’s a lot of good players available. And that’s because the CFL has a lot of good players playing in it. When more than half of the players are free agents, which this year seems to be – don’t quote me on my math there – but there’s a lot of good players out there.”

ON OTHER TEAMS GOING AFTER QUARTERBACKS :

“I haven’t lost any sleep over other team’s quarterback situations. I’m concerned about mine, about ours here. We have two young guys that we like and that we think are very capable and are promising, so if things went south with Bo, I think we still have some skill at the position to win football games.”

ON MICAH JOHNSON:

“Well, Micah has had his offer for a couple of weeks now and he wants to go to free agency. I’m not sure how that is going to go. I probably can’t use the word optimistic when talking about Micah.”

ON HAVING SIGNED 18 OF HIS OWN FREE AGENTS:

“Obviously, I told the players before anyone disbanded after the season, I was going to try hard to sign a lot of those guys. I’m the type of general manager; I want to sign the guys that are in that locker room. I’ve had success seventeen times so far.”

ON PENDING FREE AGENTS SPENCER WILSON AND RANDY RICHARDS:

“No they do not have offers.”
