Year in Review: Juwan Brescacin

Talk about a breakout season.

Stampeders receiver Juwan Brescacin once again more than doubled his previous season’s output. Playing in all 18 games, the lengthy wideout hauled in 35 receptions for 567 yards and three touchdowns – including his first in the CFL.

“As a receiver, sometimes I’ve gone games where I didn’t have a ball thrown my way. It kind of just keeps you hungry and humble and working hard. So when you do get that opportunity you make the most of it.”

As injuries began to pile up in the receiving core, Brescacin was thrust into a much bigger role than originally expected. During a three-game stretch from Week 14 to Week 16, Brescacin tallied 251 yards on 16 catches and a touchdown to help the team earn three consecutive wins.

The 3rd year receiver announced his presence to the league early on in the season, making the catch of year in the Stampeders home opener against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

“On the play I ran a corner route, and I saw Bo scrambling out of the pocket and he was pointing for me to go deep. I just adjusted to the ball and stuck my hand out and the ball stuck to my hand – before I knew it I was all over the Internet.”

Adding to his spectacular grabs and career highs in 2018, Brescacin made five catches for 35 yards in the biggest game of the year, winning the Grey Cup.

Brescacin recently re-signed with the Stampeders and will be back next season at McMahon Stadium.
