Year In Review: Cordarro Law

It’s hard to sit and watch while you’re teammates are playing.

After a 2017 season on the sidelines with an injury, Cordarro Law was focused on being healthy in 2018 so he could battle with his brothers and help lead them to the ultimate goal.

“When I was back home in Alabama, rehabbing, I watched every game last year,’’ remembers Cordarro Law wistfully. “Every game. And every one of those days, every one of those games, I wished I was out there.

“I mean, you’re on the team, you know they’re still your brothers but you’re not out there, fighting with the boys.”

Law still battled the injury bug last season, missing nine games during the regular season, but he still recorded 16 defensive tackles, four sacks and a forced fumble. After missing the last post-season run by the Stampeders, Law was healthy and ready to contribute in the playoffs. In the two biggest games of the year, the fifth-year defensive end added another five tackles en route to collecting the hardware.

The six-foot-two, 250 lbs lineman was a key cog on one of the league’s top defensive units. While his presence wasn’t always noticeable in the boxscore, those who watched him play and practice sure took notice.

“Cordarro to me has really found his way,” said head coach Dave Dickenson. “Ultimately he’s one of our guys who does everything right. Maybe he’s not always as flashy on the stat sheet, but he’s doing everything right.

“He’s our leader out there, I’m glad he’s healthy, he’s made a big impact on our team.”

With some losses on the Stampeders defensive line during the off-season, Law will be looked on to lead the group in 2019 and beyond.
