When did you start playing football?

I started playing football at the age of five or six, if I remember right. It was funny because basketball was my go-to sport and I thought, ‘Oh yeah, this is the one for me.’ But once I got to high school, I started to fall in love with the game football more.

What is your favourite thing about the game of football?

Just the camaraderie that you have in the locker room. You have guys from all over the place and especially being up here, you have guys from all over Canada and the United States, all over the place. Guys coming together from different backgrounds and trying to achieve one goal, I think that’s the best thing. Football is one of those type of games where everyone has to come together mentally and physically to achieve that one goal.

What is your favourite drill and why?

I’d probably say footwork. When we start practice, we do just footwork through the ladder. Once we break through the ladder, we do some one the run throws or stepping up in the pocket type of throws. Those are probably my favourite drills to do.

Who has been you biggest football mentor?

It would have to be my quarterback coach from back home that I train with; Justin Hoover. He’s the one that when I decided that football is my thing, I sat down with him and he helped me realize that football is my job and what I want to do, so I took it more seriously.

What is the funniest thing you’ve ever seen on a football field?

When I was in college, we were having a conditioning test. We were doing these sprints and one of our defensive lineman took a number two on himself. You know d-lineman, they want to be like the skill guys, so he’s wearing just some compression shorts and they’re white, so you can put two-and-two together.

If you could have been there for one event in history, what would it be?

I would say Dr. Martin Luther King’s speech. Just being able to be there and be a part of something so historic like that, to see someone that had a vision to change the world and change the way we go about life. Definitely that one.

If you could have lunch with any three people – dead or alive – who would you pick?

I’ve got to go with someone funny, so I’m bringing Kevin Hart to start. I’d get one of my favourite athletes all around in LeBron James and then someone important like Barrack Obama. That would be a fun lunch.

If you won $10 million, what would be your first purchase?

The first thing I’m buying? I’m getting the family a house. I’d put them all into one big house. I’d move them from Kansas City, Missouri and get them a big crib in California or something. That would be the first thing I would buy.
