Calgary Stampeders cornerback Tre Roberson is one of the Canadian Football League’s players of the week following his performance in the Red and White’s 37-10 road victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday.

Roberson picked off a pair of passes against the Roughriders, returning the second interception 48 yards for a touchdown that extended Calgary’s lead to 28-10 early in the fourth quarter. Roberson’s first pick came in the second quarter and halted a Saskatchewan drive that had moved the Riders into field-goal position.

The second-year defensive back out of Illinois State also had two tackles and one knockdown and was an important part of a Calgary defence that limited Saskatchewan to 233 yards of total offence including just 161 passing yards.

Roberson now has five interceptions in three games this season. That’s three more interceptions than any other player in the league and matches the year-end total for the CFL’s 2018 co-leaders in that category.

Roberson is the second Calgary player to be honoured as a CFL player of the week so far this season.
