It’s a new year and we’ve got plenty of new faces on the roster.

With that in mind, let’s get to know the members of the 2019 Stampeders team.

Birthdate: 11/08/1993

School: UBC

When did you start playing football?

I started playing football when I was in grade 6. I grew up in Ontario, my dad played football, I played a ton of sports when I was a kid, and I did absolutely everything but nothing stuck. I tried football, and I liked the team atmosphere, and again my dad played. He told me why don’t you give it a try? And Played in Grade 6, moved to BC when I was in Grade 7 and I have been playing it ever since.

What is your favourite thing about the game of football?

The team aspect of it, being on a team with a bunch of guys working towards a common goal, it such a cool thing when it all comes together. When you get wins it’s more fun doing it on a team than by yourself.

What is your favourite drill and why?

I like catching the ball honestly, because I don’t get to do it very much. So when we’re doing our linebacker drills and our coach JC is just firing balls at us it’s just fun because you don’t get to do it that much. Just working on something you don’t get to practice as much as receivers.

Who has been you biggest football mentor?

I’ve had a lot of really good coaches in the past, Paul Orazietti was a big influence on me and staying at UBC and working towards where I’m at now. And coach Mark Kilam has been a really big mentor. He’s let me embrace my role as a punt captain kind of guy, and my role on kickoff. He’s helped me get to this position I’m in. He’s really the main one that gave me a shot to continue playing football, I wouldn’t be here without him.

What is the funniest thing you’ve ever seen on a football field?

Last game, Wynton McManis was so tired he threw up. I think he threw up all over a guy mid play. I had never seen that happen before, so it was definitely up there with the top funniest things.

If you could have been there for one event in history, what would it be?

I would say the last year’s Masters when Tiger won, walking behind him would be a cool thing to see.

If you could have lunch with any three people – dead or alive – who would you pick?

Tiger Woods, I’d love to pick his brain. He’s an incredible golfer, and that’s my sport away from football I just love it.

My dad, because he is the funniest guy in the world, and my mom, too. They’ve both been with me through it all.

And then my grandpa Bob, or my mom’s dad because I didn’t get to meet him when I was growing up. I only have my grandma left, so it would be cool to see where my mom and my dad came from, what they grew up with.

If you won $10 million, what would be your first purchase?

I’d probably buy my parents a house, a condo or house in Mexico. And then after that it’s definitely a golf simulator for my kitchen.
