For the second consecutive season, the Calgary Stampeders will begin the playoffs with a home game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Western Semi-Final gets going from McMahon Stadium at 2:30 p.m. MST.

Calgary finished second in the West at 12-6 in 2019 while the Blue Bombers ended up in third place with an 11-7 record. The two teams have already faced each other on three occasions this season with the home team claiming victory in each case.

The winner on Sunday will earn a spot in next weekend’s Western Final at Saskatchewan’s Mosaic Stadium.

With a successful 21-16 outing in Vancouver to conclude Week 21, the Stamps secured their eighth straight season with at least 12 victories to extend the longest such streak in CFL history. Meanwhile, Winnipeg is coming off a bye following two straight clashes with Calgary. These two sides will be meeting for the third time in a 23-day period.

The Stampeders most recently played the Western Semi-Final in 2015 when they defeated the visiting BC Lions. A first-round playoff matchup between the Stamps and Bombers has not taken place in 37 years, dating back to 1982.

In 2018, Calgary claimed a 22-14 triumph over Winnipeg in the Western Final to advance to the 106th Grey Cup in Edmonton where the Stamps would go on to win their eighth championship in franchise history.
