Three Players Added To Stamps Roster

The Calgary Stampeders have added three Americans to the roster – running backs Russell Hansbrough and Roc Thomas as well as receiver Dorian Baker.

Russell Hansbrough

Hansbrough signed with the National Football League’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent on in 2016 and he dressed for two regular-season contest. He also spent time on the practice squads of the New York Giants, Los Angeles Chargers and Washington Redskins.

Hansbrough played his college ball at Missouri. He carried the ball 467 times for the Tigers and amassed 2,344 yards and 15 touchdowns including 1,084 yards and 10 majors during his junior season in 2014. He added 30 career catches for 128 yards.

Roc Thomas

Thomas signed with the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2018 and played five games as a rookie, carrying the ball eight times for 30 yards and making two catches for 21 yards. In 2019, Thomas attended training camp with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Collegiately, Thomas played two seasons at Jacksonville State. He was first-team all-Ohio Valley Conference both years and he was the conference’s offensive player of the year in 2017 after rushing for 1,065 yards and 13 touchdowns. In 21 career games for the Gamecocks, Thomas carried the ball 305 times for 1,847 yards and 20 touchdowns while adding 37 catches for 417 yards and one score. He transferred to Jacksonville State after playing 23 games in two years at Auburn. With the Tigers, Thomas had 86 carries for 475 yards and three touchdowns and 17 receptions for 227 yards and one touchdown.

Baker signed with the National Football League’s Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and he saw pre-season action for the Browns, making three catches for 40 yards. He was waived at the conclusion of training camp.

Baker played 44 games and made 34 starts in four seasons (2014-16, 2018) at Kentucky. He sat out the 2017 campaign with an ankle injury. Over the course of his career with the Wildcats, he made 101 catches for 1,148 yards and six touchdowns. During his sophomore season, he led Kentucky with 55 catches.
