The Calgary Stampeders have signed American linebacker Basil Jackson.

Jackson played for the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions of the German Football League in 2019 and led the team with 89 total tackles. He added two sacks, three interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

In college, Jackson played 22 games over three years at Tarleton State, a Division II program in Stephenville, Tex. He earned second-team Lone Star Conference recognition in 2017 after recording 122 total tackles – the third-highest total in the nation – in 10 games. Jackson had 11 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and two pass breakups.

Over the course of his career with the Texans, he had 206 tackles including 17 tackles for loss, five sacks, two interceptions returned for touchdowns, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and four pass breakups. Prior to attending Tarleton State, Jackson played two seasons at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Tex.
