Stampeders Add Defensive Back And Receiver

The Calgary Stampeders have signed a pair of American players – defensive back Ashton Lampkin and receiver Bernard Reedy.

Lampkin signed with the National Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2017, and attended training camp. He was also a member of the Cleveland Browns and Washington Redskins.

In 55 games at Oklahoma State, Lampkin played 55 games and made 111 career tackles including one tackle for loss. He added one forced fumble, 12 pass breakups and five interceptions including one that he returned for a touchdown. He was Oklahoma State’s special-teams MVP in 2013 and was named to the academic all-Big 12 team the same year.

Reedy signed with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons in 2014 and made his professional debut with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2017. In 11 career games for Tampa Bay and the New England Patriots, Reedy had two catches for 21 yards, three carries for 17 yards, seven kickoff returns for 145 yards and 18 punt returns for 175 yards. He signed with the XFL’s New York Guardians on Jan. 7, 2020.

Before turning pro, Reedy played four seasons at the University of Toledo. He was second-team all-Mid-American Conference receiver in 2013 and earned three spots on the 2012 all-MAC team – first-team at wide receiver and punt returner and second-team at kickoff returner. In 50 career games with the Rockets, he had 195 catches for 2,743 yards and 23 touchdowns, 30 carries for 153 yards and two touchdowns, 76 kickoff returns for 1,800 yards and three touchdowns and 29 punt returns for 317 yards and one score.
