STAMPS’ McGOUGH LAUNCHES CAMP TO SUPPORT MEDICINE HAT FOOD BANK

Calgary Stampeders defensive lineman Connor McGough introduces his Charity D-Line Camp in support of the food bank in his hometown of Medicine Hat.

The camp will be held at Field 1 of the Medicine Hat Fieldhouse (2055 21st Ave. SE) from Nov. 27-29. McGough, who signed with the Stampeders in February after three seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, plans to make the fundraiser an annual event.

“I am very excited to share my d-line knowledge with young players while raising money and awareness for the Medicine Hat Food Bank,” said McGough, who was a two-time Canada West all-star as a member of the University of Calgary Dinos before being selected fourth overall in the 2017 Canadian Football League draft. “Proceeds from registration fees will help feed those in need during these difficult times and I’m very grateful that the Stampeders Foundation will match money raised up to $5,000.”

McGough played amateur football for Medicine Hat’s Parkside Pythons and Crescent Heights High School Vikings before enrolling at the U of C.

“I’m very grateful to everyone who helped me develop as a football player and a person over the years and I’m thrilled for this opportunity to help give back,” said McGough. “All I ask of camp participants is that they come ready to work and become better defensive players.”

Camp session will be two hours long and will cover all the elements of defensive line play. Each session will begin with a warmup and end with a cooldown overseen by a professional yoga instructor from YogaU4ia.
