Banks, Jorden Honoured By Cfl

A pair of Calgary Stampeders – defensive lineman Stefen Banks and receiver Kamar Jorden – have been honoured as the Canadian Football League’s top performers for their efforts in Saturday’s 32-16 road victory over the Edmonton Elks.

Banks, a first-year player out of Savannah State, is the CFL’s No. 1 performer for Week 6 after recording three sacks, a fumble recovery and seven tackles. The 24-year-old Columbus, Ohio, product was part of a Calgary defensive unit that held Edmonton to 266 yards of net offence. The sacks were the first three of Banks’ career and for the season he has 14 tackles in four games.

Jorden is the No. 2 performer after a career-best 12-catch performance against the Elks. The eight-season veteran accumulated 159 yards on those dozen catches and scored a last-minute touchdown that allowed Calgary to lock up the season series against Edmonton based on points differential, which could come into play for a potential end-of-season standings tie-breaker. Jorden leads the CFL through six weeks with 37 catches and 516 yards and is tied for second in the league with three receiving touchdowns.
