The Calgary Stampeders reach the midway point of the abridged 2021 Canadian Football League season with a visit to Hamilton and a Friday-night meeting with the Tiger-Cats.

Calgary (2-4) is looking for a second consecutive road victory after posting a 32-16 win in the Labour Day rematch last week in Edmonton. The Stamps defence keyed the victory by forcing two turnovers and sacking Elks quarterback Trevor Harris on seven occasions including three sacks apiece by Stefen Banks and Shawn Lemon. The Ticats (2-3) are coming off a week in which they dropped a 17-16 decision in Toronto and lost the services of quarterback Dane Evans due to injury.

The game marks the first return to Hamilton for a pair of Stampeders. Defensive back Richard Leonard played three seasons (2017-19) with the Ticats while long-snapper Aaron Crawford played 98 games with the Tabbies from 2013-19.

Calgary and Hamilton split their 2019 season series with each side winning on home turf – the Ticats were 30-23 winners at Tim Hortons Field while the Stamps claimed a 19-18 victory at McMahon Stadium. The Stamps have a winning record of 27-22 all-time in road games against the Ticats.

The Stamps are 1-1 on the road so far in 2021 and hold the same record against East Division opponents. The Tiger-Cats are 1-0 at home and 0-2 against the West.

It’s the Stamps’ final contest before their first bye week of the year. Calgary’s next game action after the trip to Hamilton will be a home date with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday, Oct. 2. Kickoff at McMahon Stadium is at 5 p.m.
