Third place in the West Division is on the line as the Calgary Stampeders travel to Vancouver to face the BC Lions.

Calgary (4-5) can move past BC (4-4) by posting a third consecutive victory. A win would also allow the Stamps to tie second-place Saskatchewan at five victories, with the Roughriders holding a game in hand.

The Stampeders are coming off back-to-back wins over the Saskatchewan Roughriders including a 22-19 decision last week in Regina as running back Ka’Deem Carey racked up 178 yards from scrimmage and Rene Paredes kicked five field goals including the game-winner with no time left on the clock. The Lions were on a bye last week and are seeing their first action since a 30-9 home-field loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Oct. 1.

The Stamps are 47-47-3 all-time in Vancouver. Calgary’s Dave Dickenson, who as a quarterback starred with both the Stampeders and Lions, lost in his head-coaching debut at BC Place. Since that season-opening contest in 2016, Dickenson’s Stamps are 4-0 at BC Place while outscoring the Lions 105-51.

This is the second of three meetings this season between Calgary and BC as the Lions claimed a 15-9 win at McMahon Stadium on Aug. 12. Michael Reilly threw for 342 yards and scored the game’s only touchdown as the Lions won a defensive battle. The Lions recorded four interceptions and held the Stampeders offence to three field goals by Rene Paredes.

The season series wraps up on Nov. 12 when the Stamps make a return visit to BC Place.

Calgary is 2-2 on the road so far in 2021 and 3-3 against West Division rivals. The Lions are 1-3 at home and 1-4 against the West.
