Wiggan: “We Got It Done”

It wasn’t pretty at times but we got it done.

And we’ve punched our ticket to the dance!

We knew the Lions were going to come out and give us everything they got, which they did, but we were able to absorb their best punches and fire back.

It feels like we’ve been fighting for this all year. At one point, when we were 2-5 entering our first bye, things were looking bleak but guys kept fighting, kept working hard and our resolve is paying off right now. We’ve just got to keep continuing with that work ethic and go from there.

While you never want to give up over 20 points, as a defence we were able to force some turnovers last game, which was a key emphasis for us all week. Being able to punch a couple of balls out means we’re starting to force some turnovers, we’re starting to make those big plays in critical moments.

Now it’s just about perfecting the details so everything is smooth sailing.

With just one week left in the regular season, the track we’re on feels good. You always want to be on a roll this time of year. Even though in a normal year, it would be end of October when you want things clicking, but with this year’s schedule, end of November, going into December is when you want to be playing your best football.

The mindset heading into the final week is just to win. We’ve got to be ready to win a football game on the 20th.

We know we’re locked in for November 28th in Regina, but our mentality is one week at a time.

That’s how we dug ourselves out of the hole we created earlier this season, so we’re keeping that mentality.
