Stamps Trail At The Half

One last tune-up.

In the final clash of the 2021 CFL season the Stampeders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers are going head to head at McMahon Stadium this evening. And while there isn’t much on the line for either squad as both teams have already secured playoff berths, the challenge now is to head into the post-season with momentum.

So far, the Bombers lead the Stamps by a narrow three points, 3-0 at halftime.

It was a scoreless first quarter, but there was plenty of action nonetheless.

The most impressive of it was a scoring Bombers scoring chance foiled by a Jameer Thurman strip-sack. With the visitors set at the two-yard line going for the major, Thurman took quarterback Dru Brown down. Javien Elliot – in his first CFL start – would get the fumble recovery and return it an impressive 23 yards. Unfortunately, the extra possession ended with a Stamps two-and-out.

The first points of the night would eventually come off the shoe of Bombers kicker Sergio Castillo, a 15 yard boot for a field goal to cap off a lengthy 11 play drive with 4:46 remaining in the first half – the lone score of the evening thus far.
