Donations Welcome For Mace’s Turkey Drive

For the ninth consecutive year, Calgary Stampeders defensive line coach Corey Mace is conducting his annual Turkey Drive to help provide a holiday meal for hundreds of local families.

The program – which was limited exclusively to cash donations in 2020 – will see the return of Mace personally collecting turkeys and hams at the Stampeders West Administration Office, located on the southwest corner of McMahon Stadium, on Friday, Dec. 17 from noon to 5 p.m.

Last year saw a record total of $32,964 raised for the Airdrie Food Bank, and approximately 5,000 turkeys have been donated in and around Calgary since 2013.

“This is always a special time of the year, particularly when we can all come together for those in need,” said Mace. “My family and I are always so pleased to be able to facilitate this tradition and we can’t wait to see Calgarians step up yet again to do what they do best.”

Cash donations will also be accepted, and fans can currently visit www.airdriefoodbank.com/corey-mace-turkey-drive to make a donation online, with tax receipts available. The website will also be home to the auction portion of the fundraiser with numerous prizes available to be won.

The Stampeders Foundation has announced it will be matching up to $5,000 of funds raised by the community.

Mace will also be making an appearance at the Scotiabank Saddledome to promote the cause on Thursday, Dec. 9 when the Calgary Flames face the Carolina Hurricanes at 7 p.m.

All turkeys and hams collected will be hand-delivered by Mace to Children’s Cottage Society, CUPS, Enviros, The Mustard Seed and 1835 House on Monday, Dec. 20.
