Dinos Qb Spoletini To Apprentice With Stamps

Matteo Spoletini of the University of Calgary Dinos will be attending training camp with the Stampeders as part of the Canadian Football League’s Canadian quarterback internship program.

The program, which in the past has brought quarterbacks such as Marshall Ferguson (2013), future Stamp Andrew Buckley (2014), Dante Djan (2015), Brett Hunchak (2016), Chris Merchant (2017), Adam Sinagra (2018) and Mason Nyhus (2019) to Calgary’s camp returns after a two-year absence.

An alumnus of Calgary’s Notre Dame High School, Spoletini has a strong connection to the Stampeders as his father Tony and cousin Tom both played for the Red and White.

The 6-foot-5 pivot is looking to take over as the Dinos’ starter in 2022 following the graduation of senior Josiah Joseph. In limited action in 2021, Spoletini completed eight of 15 passes and recorded his first U Sports touchdown pass.

Calgary’s rookie camp begins on May 11 while main camp gets underway May 15.
