In their first of nine away games this season, the Calgary Stampeders make the trip to Hamilton for a Week 2 tussle with the Tiger-Cats on Saturday.

The Stamps have not won in Hamilton since 2018 but are 16-2 in their last 18 meetings with the Ticats including the 2014 Grey Cup in Vancouver.

Calgary (1-0) will be playing its second straight game against an Eastern opponent following a 30-27 win on home field against Montreal. Ka’Deem Carey (two) and Malik Henry (one) scored touchdowns for the Red and White, Jameer Thurman and Mike Rose picked off Vernon Adams Jr. and Rene Paredes made the winning field goal in the last minute of play.

Hamilton sits at 0-1 after debuting in Regina last week. Their 30-13 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders came despite Steven Dunbar’s 71-yard touchdown, the longest passing play in the league to date. The Ticats’ Gordon Whyte was the only player with three special-teams tackles throughout the opening weekend of action.

Across the first four CFL games, the Tiger-Cats surrendered a league-high eight sacks and managed a league-low 26 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, the Stampeders ran a league-high 59 plays from scrimmage. Calgary also topped out in net punting average with a mark of 44.7 yards with punter Jimmy Smith making his professional debut in place of injured fellow Australian Cody Grace.

Tim Hortons Field will host the induction ceremonies for the 2020 and 2021 Canadian Football Hall of Fame classes on Friday, and the 13 individuals – including seven associated with the Stamps – will again be honoured on game day with a halftime celebration.

These teams will complete their 2022 season series on Friday, Oct. 14 when the Tiger-Cats come to McMahon.
