The Red and White can become the second team this season to four wins and re-gain a share of first place in the West Division with a win in Edmonton on Thursday.

Calgary is 3-0 and coming off a bye week, with the team’s last outing also coming against the Elks. The Stamps won 30-23 in Week 3 with strong performances from Bo Levi Mitchell and Malik Henry in particular. Mitchell completed 75 per cent of his passes and threw for 321 yards, 173 of which went to Henry. The Stampeders limited Edmonton to 64 yards in the ground game and Shawn Lemon registered two sacks.

Including the pre-season calendar, three of the Stamps’ first six appearances this season are against Elks as Calgary closed out their tune-up schedule against its provincial counterpart back on June 3.

Now with a 1-3 record, Edmonton played in Hamilton last Friday and left Tim Hortons Field with a 29-25 victory. First-year quarterback and Waterloo alum Tre Ford made his first-ever CFL start and also led the team in rushing yards. Kai Locksley (rushing), Kenny Lawler (receiving) and Jalen Collins (fumble return) found the end zone for the Green and Gold.

The Stampeders sit second in the league with 387 yards of offence per outing, while the Elks are the only team to average less than 300 yards a game.

Four different players have an interception for the Stamps this season with Jameer Thurman, Titus Wall, Mike Rose and Cameron Judge having each picked off an opponent. Calgary is one of only two teams with an interception in each game.

Punter Cody Grace is expected to return to the lineup following an injury suffered in training camp. The 2021 global draftee was a divisional all-star as a rookie last season after leading the CFL in net punting average.

This is the first of two straight road trips for Calgary. Next up is a visit to the Manitoba capital to do battle with the Blue Bombers. Edmonton will travel to Montreal.
