Nothing was stopping the Stampeders on Thursday night, not even an hour long weather delay.

Calgary crushed the Elks 49-6 at Commonwealth Stadium to improve their record to 4-0.

Ka’Deem Carey ran the ball 12 times for 104 yards.

Bo Levi Mitchell ended the day about half way through the third quarter his final line was 17-of-22 for 279 yards and two touchdowns, while Malik Henry had 150 yards receiving and a touchdown.

It didn’t take long for Jalen Philpot to make an impact in the first half. Philpot had a 59-yard return to open the game which got the Stamps immediately in field-goal range. Rene Paredes would later kick a 29-yarder for the early lead.

After trading punts the Elks would get their first big play of the game when Tre Ford escaped pressure and found Kai Locksley for 46 yards. That would lead to a Sergio Castillo 38-yard field-goal to tie up the game.

Immediately after the field goal the Stamps would turn the ball over on a Ka’Deem Carey fumble. Edmonton wouldn’t be able to capitalize however.

Just before the first quarter ended the Stampeders attempted a flea-flicker, Bo Levi Mitchell missed Malik Henry but after a Dave Dickenson challenge it was determined there was defensive pass interference on the play.

Calgary jumped up to the Elks 24 yard line. Mitchell was sacked on back to back plays and Rene Paredes would miss his first regular season field-goal in 31 tries to keep the game tied up at three.

Edmonton started deep in their own territory and would end up giving up a safety after a two-and-out.

Philpot would again give the Stamps great field position as he returned the safety kick 37 yards onto the Edmonton side of midfield. Another Calgary drive would stall and they would settle for a 17 yard field-goal to make it 8-3.

The next drive was a good one for Calgary. After Carey made a great play to move the Stamps out of the shadow of their own goal-posts Mitchell found Henry for an 89-yard score. The Stamps would miss the two point convert.

Nick Arbuckle, who relieved Tre Ford after an injury, threw an interception deep in Stamps territory with under two minutes to go in the half. Calgary attempted to punt the ball out the back of the endzone from mid field but Ed Gainey was able to get the ball out.

The Stamps picked up right where they left off in the second half. After an Edmonton missed field goal, Peyton Logan caught the ball 12 yards deep in his endzone and went 122 yards to pay dirt. It was 21-3 less than five minutes into the third quarter.

After the next Elks drive ended in a punt, the teams headed to their locker rooms due to lightning in the area. The delay lasted an hour and seven minutes.

Once the two teams got back to the field Carey got the ball moving on the ground with a few big runs. Logan would finish the drive off punching in his second TD of the game from 15 yards out to give the Stamps a 28-3 lead.

The route continued on the Stamps next drive, after a Judge fumble recovery, Mitchell found Luther Hakunavanhu through the air to make it 35-3.

It was the defence’s turn to score on the next Edmonton drive.

Titus Wall jarred a ball loose and Judge was there to pick it and up and go all the way to the house for another Stamps TD it was now 42-3.

The Elks would finally find their way onto the scoreboard again on their next drive hitting a 42 yard field-goal to make it 42-6.

Tre Roberson intercepted an Arbuckle pass late in the fourth quarter and took it all the way back to the Edmonton 15. Tommy Stevens then got over the top from one yard out to make it 49-6 with 35 seconds left, that would be your final.
