The Calgary Stampeders can take over second place in the West Division with a win on Saturday at McMahon Stadium against the BC Lions.

Both teams are coming off Week 9 victories as the Stamps (5-2) left Ottawa with a 17-3 triumph and the Lions (6-1) handled the out-of-town Elks by a final score of 46-14.

Calgary’s lone touchdown at TD Place Stadium came via a 46-yard interception by Titus Wall. The standout rookie made another pick in the fourth quarter and was named a CFL top performer for his efforts. Also of note, Dedrick Mills ran for 100 yards in his starting debut, Bo Levi Mitchell connected with eight different receivers and both Cameron Judge and Shawn Lemon registered quarterback sacks.

Out in Vancouver, Nathan Rourke went 34-of-37 for 477 yards and five touchdown passes. Conversely, Edmonton’s offence struggled, possessing the ball for less than 25 minutes and only managing to pick up 15 first downs.

In their last eight home games against BC, the Red and White have won on six occasions. Rourke is on track to become the fifth different starter for the Lions in Calgary during that period, following in the footsteps of Kevin Glenn, Jonathon Jennings, Travis Lulay and Michael Reilly.

The squads with the two best totals in terms of points conceded thus far are Calgary and BC with 150 and 135 points respectively.

Bo Levi Mitchell – who needs six yards to set Calgary’s franchise passing yards record – has the lowest interception percentage among CFL quarterbacks with a minimum of six starts. Meanwhile, Rourke leads all signal callers in rushing yards and sits eighth overall among ground-game contributors across the league.

Calgary has an upcoming two-game road trip starting in Toronto on Saturday, Aug. 20 followed by a matchup in Winnipeg the following Thursday. BC will gear up for consecutive clashes with the Roughriders.

A home-and-home set with these same Lions will take place next month to round out the season series as the Stampeders will be facing BC three times in their next seven outings.
