The Stampeders kick off a two-game road trip on Saturday with a visit to Toronto and a meeting with the East Division-leading Argonauts. Kickoff at BMO Field is 5 p.m. MDT.

It’s the Stampeders’ first visit to Toronto since a 23-16 Calgary victory on Sept. 20, 2019. The only meeting between the Stamps and Argos since that date came in Week 1 of the 2021 season, with Toronto claiming a 23-20 win at McMahon Stadium.

Both clubs are coming off losses in Week 10 as the Stamps (5-3) dropped a 41-40 decision at home to the BC Lions while the Argos (4-4) lost a road game to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats by a score of 34-27.

There is a great deal of familiarity between these teams as the Toronto coaching staff features seven individuals who either played or coached with the Stamps including Ryan Dinwiddie, Corey Mace, Joshua Bell, Kris Sweet, William Fields, Edwin Harrison and Pete Costanza. In addition, the Argos roster features 10 former Calgary players including safety Royce Metchie, who was acquired in an off-season trade for linebacker Cameron Judge, who is Calgary’s leading tackler this season.

With 1,839 career points, Calgary kicker René Paredes goes into Saturday’s contest needing just two points to move past Trevor Kennerd and into the CFL’s top 10 in scoring.

The Stampeders are 3-1 on the road so far this season and 3-0 against East Division opponents. The Boatmen are 3-2 at home and 2-2 against the West.

This is the first of two meetings between the Red and White and the Double Blue as the Argos will be at McMahon on Oct. 1.

Calgary’s excursion will continue on Thursday, Aug. 25 with a stop in Winnipeg to face the Blue Bombers before the Stamps return to McMahon on Monday, Sept. 5 for the Labour Day Classic against the Edmonton Elks.
