It was a quick start for the Stamps on Saturday night in Toronto but it was tough sailing after that.

Bo Levi Mitchell found Shawn Bane Jr for 80 yards on the first play of the game and the Stamps eventually got three on the board to take a 3-0 lead.

It was a back and forth, grinding battle the rest of the way but Calgary was able to pull out the win 22-19 to move to 6-3 on the season.

Mitchell was 9-for-16 for 149 yards and two interceptions before being pulled at half time.

Jake Maier went 14-for-18 for 156 yards and one interception in relief.

Bane led the way through the air with 129 yards on four receptions.

Dedrick Mills had 48 yards on the ground on 11 carries.

Defensively it was Elie Bouka coming up huge for the Stamps with a fumble recovery and a pick-six.

The Argos responded quickly as they too got a field-goal on their first drive to knot it up at three-a-piece.

Mitchell looked deep again on the Stamps second drive but was intercepted in Argos territory.

The Stamps forced a turnover of their own a few drives later as Brad Muhammad punched a football loose. It was recovered by former Dino Elie Bouka but Calgary was unable to get any points off the turnover. The first quarter ended tied at 3-3.

Calgary found the endzone early in the second quarter as Peyton Logan took a shovel pass 29 yards to pay-dirt to make the score 10-3.

It didn’t take long for the Argos to tie it up once again as Chad Kelly punched it in from one yard out to tie the game at 10.

The Stampeders had turnover problems in the first half. First, Jalen Philpot fumbled while battling for a first down and then Mitchell threw his second interception of the half. Toronto wasn’t able to capitalize much on the turnovers, and were only be able to muster a field-goal from the two takeaways making the score 13-10.

Toronto had one more opportunity to put points on the board after a short punt from the Stamps. They added another field-goal just before half-time to make the score 16-10 going into the break.

Maier came out at quarterback to start the second half for the Stampeders.

He completed one pass on his opening drive but Calgary was forced to punt.

The offence continued to struggle in the second half as a two-and-out led to another Toronto field-goal to put the score at 19-10.

However, Calgary found new life just before the third quarter ended as Bouka intercepted McLeod Bethel-Thompson and took it all the way back 62 yards for the score. The Stamps failed on the two-point conversion making it 19-16 going into the final frame.

Rene Paredes got the Stampeders back to even early in the fourth quarter with a 41 yard field goal, his second of the night.

The Stamps put one through the uprights on their next drive to take their first lead since the first quarter. It was 22-19 with just under five minutes gone in the fourth.

Calgary put together a good drive on the next possession but threw an interception in the endzone to keep points off the board.

Toronto started a drive with under a minute to go from their own 20 yard line but Bethel-Thompson fumbled in the backfield. It was recovered by former Argonaut Cameron Judge, sealing the win for the Red and White.

Calgary walked out of Toronto with the 22-19 victory.
