Both teams looked a little slow in their first possessions.

Maier found Carey through the air for 27 yards taking the ball to the three yardline and then Carey finished it off on the ground to put the first points on the board, it was 7-0 Stampeders.

Edmonton’s next drive stalled after Jameer Thurman, who returned from injury in this one, came up with a sack on second down.

The Elks got the ball back with no damage done and made it count as Taylor Cornelius connected with Dillon Mitchell for a 47 yard bomb to even the score at seven to end the first quarter.

Calgary forced another turnover early in the second quarter, as Shawn Lemon knocked the ball out of Cornelius’ hands before Cam Judge batted the ball out of bounds. Calgary was unable to capitalize on the turnover and punted the ball away.

Peyton Logan made his mark on the game halfway through the quarter as he returned a punt from his own 20 to the Edmonton 40 but, once again Calgary couldn’t get anything going on offence as Maier threw an interception.

Jon Ryan punted the ball into the endzone on the next Elks drive for a single to make the score Elks eight, Stampeders seven. That would be the score heading into the half and the only point scored in the second quarter.

The second half started with more good defence as Orimolade came up with a big sack on second down to force the Elks to punt.

Calgary finally got something going on offence on their next drive as Maier found Kamar Jorden twice before Carey busted up the middle for 21 yards to push the ball to the Edmonton 26. Maier then connected with Begelton on back to back throws to get in the endzone. The Stamps went for two and were successful as Malik Henry caught the ball in the back of the endzone to make the score 15-8.

The Stamps took hold of the game on the next Elks possession as Romeo McKnight blocked an Elks punt and Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund recovered it at the Edmonton 13 yardline. Maier found Begelton again in the endzone two plays later to make the score 22-8.

Calgary forced another punt but Logan bobbled the ball leading to an Elks recovery at the Calgary 35. Edmonton would finish the drive with a field-goal to put the score at 22-11.

Maier went long to Luther Hakunavanhu for 40 yards on the Stamps next drive which was finished off by a Rene Paredes field-goal.

Stamps 25, Elks 11 with 12:15 to go in the game.

Edmonton would not go away as they drove the field.

The Stamps got into field-goal range with two minutes to go but Paredes missed from 40 yards out, it would go out the back of the endzone for a single to make the score 26-18.

Calgary ran the ball twice and then punted it away with 19 seconds on the clock.

Edmonton had one more shot with nine seconds left but would not get close as the defence put the game away.
