Stamps Sweep Top Performer Awards

Calgary Stampeders players swept the Canadian Football League’s top-performer awards for Week 21 following their efforts in the regular-season finale against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Quarterback Tommy Stevens, running back Dedrick Mills and defensive lineman Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund all turned in award-winning performances in a 36-10 Stampeders win.

Stevens, the Stamps’ short-yardage specialist, delivered some long-distance running in accumulating the best single-game rushing total in the CFL this season. The Penn State alum had four carries for 163 yards including an 85-yard touchdown that was the longest running play in the CFL this season and a 71-yard scamper that was the league’s second-longest run in 2022.

Stevens also completed four of five throws for 32 yards and recorded the first passing touchdown of his CFL career.

Mills is being honoured as a CFL top performer in back-to-back weeks after cracking the 100-yard rushing milestone for a second straight contest. In his latest standout game, the University of Nebraska product carried the ball 14 times for 125 yards – an average of 8.9 yards per attempt – and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Adeyemi-Berglund sacked Saskatchewan quarterback Mason Fine three times and was part of a defensive unit that held the Roughriders to 207 yards of net offence. It was the first multiple-sack game of the sophomore defensive lineman’s career.

Stampeders were recognized 12 times this season as a CFL top weekly performer during the 2022 season.
