This is the Stanford alum’s second stint with the Red and White as he played 33 regular-season games and two post-season contests for Calgary in 2017 and 2018 before going to the National Football League.

“We’re happy to bring James back to the Red and White,” said Stampeders general manager and head coach Dave Dickenson. “Anytime you can bring in a player with James’ toughness and work ethic, it’s a win for your team.”

“I’m excited to be back in Calgary with the Stamps,” said Vaughters. “I won a Grey Cup here but, more importantly, learned how to be a professional. I appreciate the club for recognizing what I can add to the team and I look forward to getting acquainted with my teammates as we pursue the 2023 Grey Cup.”

In 33 regular-season games for the Stamps, Vaughters recorded 50 defensive tackles including three tackles for loss, 11 sacks, eight special-teams tackles and three knockdowns.

Vaughters played linebacker for four seasons at Stanford, appearing in 54 games and making 18 starts. He recorded 124 total tackles including 21.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
