1. Us
The Stampeders will look to get back on track and snap a four-game losing streak when they host the Montreal Alouettes on Saturday at 5 p.m.
The Stampeders are last in the CFL West Division but are just three points out of a playoff spot with six games to go. Calgary will go back to Jake Maier at quarterback after he watched from the sidelines as Logan Bonner got the start last week. Maier is fourth in the CFL in passing yards with 2,921 and also has 15 touchdown passes which is the third highest mark in the league.
2. Them
The Alouettes continue to be the top team in the league entering their Week 15 matchup with a 10-2 record. They fell to the Lions last week by a score of 37-23. Cody Fajardo makes his ninth start of the season for Montreal. He has thrown for 2,212 yards and 13 touchdowns this year. The Alouettes announced earlier this week that breakout star receiver Tyson Philpot will miss the remainder of the season with an injury.
3. Head to Head
This is the second of two meetings between these two. The Stampeders fell 30-26 in Montreal in Week 5 after leading 23-12 at the half. Tommy Stevens rushed for 49-yards on six attempts including two for touchdowns in that game.
4. Fast Facts
Stampeders receiver Reggie Begelton is looking to carry the momentum of his recent scintillating performances into Saturday’s contest. Begelton has cracked the 100-yard mark in receiving in three of the past four games – including 123 yards last week in Edmonton – and heads into Week 15 ranked fifth in the Canadian Football League with 810 receiving yards.
Calgary defensive tackle Mike Rose scored his first CFL touchdown last week when he intercepted a McLeod Bethel-Thompson and returned it 83 yards.
It’s Indigenous Night at McMahon Stadium, and activities begin pre-game in East Fan Zone starting at 3:30 p.m. Come early to enjoy the activities – there will be a live DJ, Stampeder players autographs, face painting, Indigenous events and more.
Calgary Stampeders are honoured to have members of the 7 Nations hold the Stampeders flag while Dilayna Blackhorse sings the national anthem in the traditional Blackfoot language. At halftime, there will be a demonstration of the traditional Indigenous game Two Ball performed. TsuuT’ina Nation member Hal Eagletail will walk fans through the rules and objectives of the game.
Thanks to our Director of Communications Jean Lefebvre for handing off these facts!
5. Who’s Where
6. Players to Watch
Stamps: RB Dedrick Mills: Mills returned to the Stampeders lineup last week rushing 14 times for 65 yards and grabbing two catches for 30yards. Mills sits in seventh in the CFL in rushing yards (471) despite only playing in seven of the team’s 12 games so far.
Als: WR Charleston Rambo: With Tyson Philpot and Austin Mack out of the lineup, Rambo could be the main target for Fajardo on Saturday. Rambo enters the game with 630-yards and four touchdowns this season.
7. Quotable
“It starts by looking at the man in the mirror and figuring out what you can be better at first. From there, it’s inspiring your group and hopefully that trickles down to the whole team.” – OL Sean McEwen on snapping the team’s losing streak.
