It just means more.
The Stampeders host the rival Saskatchewan Roughriders on Friday night at McMahon Stadium at 7:30 p.m. in the latest edition of the fierce prairie rivalry.
The Stamps are 4-8-1 following their 19-19 tie with Montreal last week and are just two-points back of the Riders for the final playoff spot in the west with five games remaining.
Neither team has been in the win column lately – both teams are 0-4-1 in their last five games – but both still have a chance to control their own destiny heading into the playoffs.
Linebacker Micah Teitz says it’s a huge opportunity for his club.
“The winner gets a leg up on each other in the standings for the time being so we’re hoping to be that team,” he said. “For the whole team we know this is a big game.”

Teitz played four seasons for the Green and White registering 158 tackles in 45 games. He has seven defensive tackles to go along with six on special teams in his first campaign with the Stamps.
“I’ve had this one circled for a while now,” said Teitz. “I had good times there, have good friends on the team still. There’s a little more on the line for me personally and where we are at in the season so it’s a big one.”
The Calgary native and former U of C Dino says since he has been in the league it seems like the Stampeders and Riders have met in meaningful games and that has helped keep this deep-rooted rivalry going.
“It seems like every year since 2018 the Riders vs Calgary game is always late in the season, always after Labour Day when the playoffs mean a lot,” he explained.“I think it’s really good for the CFL, it’s a great rivalry that we have and I’m looking forward to being on the good side of it in this game.”
