7 Things – Riders @ Stamps

1. Us

The Stampeders find themselves in the midst of a 0-4-1 slide as they head into crunch time in the final five games of the CFL regular season. Calgary sits just two points back of Saskatchewan for third in the West Division entering their Week 16 clash. Last time out the Stamps collected a single point in a 19-19 tie with the CFL-leading Montreal Alouettes.

2. Them

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have an identical 0-4-1 record in their last five games and find themselves in danger of sliding out of a playoff spot after sitting first in the west just a few short weeks ago. The Riders have lost by margins of five, two, one and three in those four losses.

3. Head to Head

This is the first of two meetings down the stretch. These two will meet again in Regina during the final week of the season Oct. 21. Last year the Stamps won two-of-three meetings with the last one coming in Week 19 and eventually sending Calgary past Saskatchewan for the final playoff spot.

4. Fast Facts

Since the start of the 2019 season, the Red and White have won eight of 10 regular-season meetings with the Riders.

The Stamps are 4-2-1 at home and 2-4 against West Division opponents. Saskatchewan is 2-4-1 on the road and 2-4 against the West.

5. Who’s Where

6. Players to Watch

Stamps: LB Cam Judge: Judge began his career in Saskatchewan where he played three seasons in the Green and White so he is no stranger to this rivalry from both sides. Judge leads the Stampeders with 56 defensive tackles this season and has added one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Riders: DL Micah Johnson: The former Stampeder continues to be a force from the interior of the defensive line and has done admirably in a couple stints on the offensive line as well due to some Riders injuries. He has 21 tackles including four for a loss and six sacks heading into this one.

7. Quotable

“You’re going to have to beat this opponent in order to get into the playoffs. I think both sides are sending the same message. It’s always fun here at McMahon, usually a great crowd, looking forward to it.” – General manager and head coach Dave Dickenson on Friday’s big game with the Riders.
