Reunited.
After a season a part, the explosive duo of Vernon Adams Jr. and Dominique Rhymes are back together, ready to torch opposing defences once again in 2025.
Following his release from the Ottawa Redblacks on Feb. 2, it only took two days for the veteran receiver to be added to another CFL roster, and what better team than the Red and White, who traded for his former QB last November?
“It feels good to reconnect (with Adams) because even when I was back in Ottawa last season, I still talked to him, hit him up,” admitted Rhymes. “When I saw him killing it during the season I was congratulating him, telling him how proud I am of him.
“We just got one of those things where we have a natural chemistry.
“When he got traded to BC, I welcomed him in and always treated him like a brother, so it’s just a natural thing between me and him.”

The pair suited up together for two seasons with the Lions (2022-23), where the duo connected on 1,043 yards and eight touchdowns.
And Rhymes is confident that he and Adams can continue their storied success in Calgary this season.
“I’m super excited, I’m ready to put on my cowboy hat,” said Rhymes. “(I hope to bring) that infectious mentality to win. Whatever I do, I just want to win.”
“I’m a very passionate person, so I hope I can convey that to my teammates.
“In everything I do I want to win, I want to win every rep. When I come in, it’s a change of mentality. We’re going to win, we’re going to the playoffs, and we’re going to be very dominant this year. That’s the only mindset I have.
“I’m not made to be losing games, I’m not made to lose reps. I don’t want to let my teammates down so me coming in, I just want to preach to win, win everything.”
The 31-year-old joins a receiving corps consisting of all-CFL talent Reggie Begelton, Jalen Philpot, Clark Barnes, Cam Echols, Ishmael Hyman, Erik Brooks and Malik Henry who is recovering from an injury he suffered during training camp last season.
“I’m excited (to work with them),” he said. “I’ve already been talking to guys like Reggie and Malik. Cam hit me up, so we exchanged contact numbers. Jalen Philpot I’ve been a big fan of, everybody there; Clark Barnes, they have a lot of talented people.
“I’m just glad I’m able to join the group and bring what I can to the table and make people excited about Stampeder offence again, scoring a lot of points and having fun doing it.”
