1. Us
Following a gutsy 29-19 victory in Toronto last weekend the Stamps improved to 2-0 and now turn their focus to the winless Ottawa Redblacks who will travel to Calgary for the Week 3 matchup.
It was a costly win for the Stamps over the Argos as they lost veteran leader Reggie Begelton due to a leg injury, as well as longtime long snapper Aaron Crawford and starting middle linebacker Marquel Lee. All three were added to the six-game injury list.
The Red and White will rely on their deep group of receivers to step up in Begelton’s absence, specifically with Jalen Philpot who will slide into the inside slotback spot. The fourth-year Stampeder wasted no time in last week’s contest filling in for his injured teammate, tallying his first 100+ yards receiving game as a pro.
Meanwhile, recently signed Jason MacGougan – who spent training camp with the team earlier this spring- will replace Crawford at the long snapper position.
On defence, Micah Teitz moves back to middle linebacker in place of Lee and Jacob Roberts slides up the depth chart to the starting role on the weakside.
2. Them
The Redblacks fell to 0-2 last week following a divisional matchup with the Montreal Alouettes. Ottawa was without their starting pivot Dru Brown, who sat out after suffering a hip injury against the Roughriders in Week 1. It was former Stampeder Matt Shiltz who got the nod under centre and threw for 205 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in the 39-18 loss.
3. Head-to-Head
Week 3 marks the third straight week that the Stamps will face an eastern opponent. It will also be the third straight week the Redblacks will dress a different starting quarterback as Dustin Crum took all the first team reps this week while Brown continues to heal his hip injury.
The forecast calls for a heavy dose of rain and wind this weekend, therefore putting an emphasis on ball security and the ground game in Saturday’s matinee.
Kickoff between the unbeaten Stamps and winless Redblacks is set for 2 p.m. MT.

6. Players to Watch
Stamps: DB Damon Webb: We’re keeping our eyes on the first-year Stampeder as he prepares to play against his former team for the first time. The 2024 CFL all-star has made two consecutive starts at safety for the Red and White, recording seven tackles and two knockdowns. In a rainy Week 14 victory over the Argos last season, Webb tallied two pick-sixes, including one he took back to the house for 96 yards.
SO NICE, HE DID IT TWICE!
Damon Webb has his second pick 6 of the game.😤

Redblacks: RB William Stanback: As the rain clouds continue to culminate over Calgary and the Redblacks swapping out quarterbacks for the third week in a row, we’ll need to pay attention to veteran Stanback, who’s sure to carry the load for a hungry Ottawa club. The 30-year-old scored his first touchdown of the season in Week 1 against the Riders.
7. Quotable
“The rain is not a huge deal. We’ve all played in some nasty weather, living in Canada it’s going to happen.” – General manager and head coach Dave Dickenson on playing in the potential downpour projected to fall over Calgary on Saturday.
