As he’s done time and time again, Rene Paredes came through in the clutch.
The Stampeders kicker put home four second-half field goals, including a 40-yard strike with no time on the clock, helping Calgary overcome a 17-point deficit to knock off Winnipeg 28-27 in a wild Saturday affair at McMahon Stadium.

STAT PACK
Vernon Adams Jr. – 17-for-24, 300 yards, two touchdowns
Dedrick Mills – 18 carries, 105 yards
Jalen Philpot – five catches, 88 yards
Jacob Roberts – 11 tackles, one sack
Winnipeg opened the scoring 4:47 into the game thanks to a 49-yard field goal.
Blue Bombers quarterback Chris Streveler extended the lead just under seven minutes later, plunging into the end zone from the one-yard line as the guests held a 10-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
Winnipeg extended their lead to 17-0 just over a minute into the second stanza, but the Stamps answered right back on the ensuing drive.
With time in the pocket, Adams went deep down the middle to connect with receiver Tevin Jones, who outmuscled, and high-stepped his way past two Winnipeg defenders to find paydirt on a 78-yard strike.

Trailing by nine, the hosts needed a defensive stop, and they got one with just over seven minutes left on the clock, denying Streveler on a quarterback sneak at the Stampeders’ six-yard line to force a turnover on downs.
That set the stage for Adams and Jones to go to work again. The veteran pivot found his target in the end zone from nine yards out with just under two minutes to play in the half, connecting for their second TD of the quarter to cap off a five play, 70-yard drive.
Winnipeg held a 23-16 lead at the half.
Adams and the Stamps kept the offence rolling into the second half. On the first play from scrimmage, he connected with Clark Barnes on a 39-yard toss down the left sideline, a play that helped lead to a 14-yard Paredes field goal, cutting the Calgary deficit to 23-19.
On the next Stampeder drive, Adams went deep to Jalen Philpot for a 48-yard gain, again leading to a Paredes field goal.
The defence stood tall in the third quarter, holding Winnipeg off the scoreboard thanks to a pair of drive-stopping sacks from Jaylon Hutchings and Jacob Roberts, who finished the contest with a game-high 11 tackles.

Paredes hit his third field goal of the half just over two minutes into the fourth quarter – this time from 34 yards – to put the home side in front for the first time on the afternoon, 25-23.
Winnipeg got the ball with two minutes left on the clock, Charles Wiley and the defence forcing quarterback Zack Collaros into a fourth sack on the afternoon, before Sergio Castillo tied a CFL record with a 63-yard field goal with 1:01 left on the clock.
That left Calgary one final chance. But it was the only chance they’d need.
Adams and running back Dedrick Mills drove the ball down to the Bombers’ 33-yard line, and as time expired, Paredes cranked home a 40-yard field goal to secure the win, and a three-game season sweep over Winnipeg for the locals.
With the victory, the Stampeders improve to 6-3 on the season, while the Blue Bombers fall to 4-4.
