Stampeders Sweep Saskatchewan

For the second time this season the Calgary Stampeders dominated the Saskatchewan Roughriders this time by a 32-15 score at McMahon Stadium.

The win pushes the Stamps to 7-3 on the season just two points behind the now 8-2 Riders for first in the West Division.

STAT PACK

Vernon Adams Jr. – 14-for-21, 222 yards, three touchdowns

Dedrick Mills – 16 carries, 78 yards, one touchdown,

Daylen Baldwin – three receptions, 84 yards, one touchdown

Clarence Hicks – four tackles, two sacks

The Riders got into Stampeders territory with the help of a long pass-interference call on the opening drive but were only able to muster a rouge after missing a 28 yard field-goal.

Calgary quickly responded as Vernon Adams Jr. found Daylen Baldwin through the air for 46 yards before Dedrick Mills rushed in his eighth touchdown of the season from six yards out.

The Riders and Stamps traded interceptions on back-to-back plays late in the first quarter. First, Sheldon Arnold II took one away for the Stampeders but the Riders nabbed it right back on a deep ball attempt.

The score was 7-2 Stampeders after one quarter.

Jalen Philpot capped a four play, 49 yard drive with an eight yard touchdown reception. It was his first major of the season and came with 11:27 remaining in the first half.

The Riders answered the Philpot touchdown with a couple of long passing plays leading to a touchdown with 4:26 remaining in the second-quarter.

Saskatchewan put together a methodical drive late in the quarter that ended with another major, they were unsucessful on a two-point convert attempt making the score 15-14 Riders heading into the break.

The Stampeders didn’t take long to find the endzone in the third quarter. After two strong runs from Mills, Adams Jr. found Baldwin for his first CFL TD.

Godfrey Onyeka put an end to a Rider drive registering the Stampeders second interception of the night with under five-minutes to play in the third quarter. The Stamps would strike on a 53 yard field-goal from Rene Paredes to extend the lead.

Calgary would continue to add on in the fourth-quarter with an eight play, 93 yard drive that ended with an Adams Jr. pass into the endzone for Erik Brooks.

The Stampeders were able to hold off any hopes of a comeback from the Green and White finishing the game with a 32-15 victory.
