Stamps Offence Dazzles In Win Over BC

Talk about offence.

The Stamps picked up their first win of the season in exciting fashion over the BC Lions 41-33 on the road at Apple Bowl Stadium as part of the Touchdown Kelowna Festival.

Pivot Vernon Adams Jr. was dialled in, connecting on three touchdowns to get the offence going in the clash, while picking up his 50th career win as a starting quarterback in the CFL. Kick returner Tyreik McAllister picked up another highlight reel worthy touchdown on a 90-yard punt return. The defence showed out picking up three sacks and an interception to help back stop the team to the win.

The Stampeders struck first in the first quarter with an eight-play, 75-yard drive that ended with a 20-yard Dedrick Mills receiving touchdown to take a 7-0 lead.

Rookie DB Zy Alexander put his stamp on the game picking up his first interception with 4:36 remaining in the quarter.

In the second quarter, Adams Jr. and Jalen Philpot connected for a much-needed touchdown to retake the lead with a minute before the end of the half. The six-yard reception was Philpot’s first touchdown of the season.

The Stamps got the ball back on the following kickoff after a forced fumble recovery by Benjamin Labrosse. That drive ended with pivot Quincy Vaughn punching in his fourth touchdown of the season to extend the Stamps lead to 24-14 at half.

The Red and White offence kept the momentum going as Adams Jr. connected on a big 56-yard touchdown pass to Tevin Jones to bring the lead to 31-17 in the third quarter.

Pull out your popcorn, another week, another unbelievable return from Tyreik McAllister. This time the kick return specialist took home a 90-yard punt for his second in as many weeks to put the Stamps up 38-17 in the fourth.

The Lions punched back, but the Stampeders held on for a 41-33 win to close it out in Kelowna.
