Stamps Lose Thriller To Alouettes

The Stamps put up a fight till the very end, but dropped the second of back-to-back games against the Montreal Alouettes 38-32.

The Red and White scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to nearly complete the comeback. Vernon Adams Jr. threw for three touchdowns in the tilt, while Dedrick Mills hauled in a pair of touchdowns.

The Alouettes found the end zone first just under four minutes into the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead.

The Red and White mustered a field goal in the first half to cut the Montreal lead down to 22-3.

Fast forward to the third quarter, the Stamps offence got going when Mills rushed in a three-yard touchdown and then followed that up with a two-point conversion to make it 22-11.

In the fourth quarter, Adams connected on his first passing touchdown of the game when he found Erik Brooks in the endzone off a 15-yard reception.

With four-and-a-half minutes left in the fourth quarter the Stamps made a push offensively. Adams found Jalen Philpot for a five-yard touchdown to snip Montreal’s lead down to 32-25.

The Red and White had all the momentum after a turn over on downs put the Stamps in Montreal territory. That led to Adams finding Mills for a 15-yard touchdown reception to tie the game up at 32 with three minutes left in the game.

The Stamps will jump start a three-game road trip starting in Week 8 when they take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on July 24. Kick-off is set for 6:30 p.m.

The Red and White will be back at McMahon Stadium for a tilt with the BC Lions on August 13 with a 7:00 p.m. start.
