Stamps Claim Historic Victory In Winnipeg

History was the word of the day for the Stamps.

The Red and White’s offence contributed in a big way in a 52-30 victory to even up the season-series with the Blue Bombers.

Pivot Vernon Adams Jr. became the first quarterback in CFL history to start a season throwing 18 touchdowns and zero interceptions. Tyreik McAllister also etched his name in the books as he became the first player in CFL history to score three different types of touchdowns in one half of a game.

The defence stepped up with Benjamin Labrosse picking up his first three-career CFL interceptions, tying a franchise record en route to the win.

The Stamps offence started the game humming from the first drive after Adams made a couple nice passes to get into Winnipeg territory. McAllister finished it off rushing for 17-yards to the end zone.

The offence continued their momentum in the second quarter when Adams connected with none other than McAllister on a 56-yard receiving touchdown. That pass was VA’s 18th touchdown thrown with zero interceptions to create CFL history.

If it seems like we’re talking about McAllister a lot, it’s because the man could not be stopped.

This time a missed field goal attempt landed in the hands of McAllister who sent it back 118-yards to the house.

That made CFL history as he became the first player to score three different types of touchdowns in one half of a game.

In the third quarter, the flood gates continued to flow for the Red and White. This time it was Jalen Philpot who found the endzone off a 69-yard reception and a potential candidate for touchdown of the year.

Adams threw for his third touchdown of the night when he connected with Tevin Jones on a seven-yard reception. Jones sits just one touchdown shy of reaching his CFL career-high of five touchdowns from 2024.

In the final moments of the fourth quarter, Dedrick Mills hauled in a 36-yard rush to put the cherry on the cake to close out the win.

The Stamps will continue their three-game road trip when they head out to Hamilton to take on the Tiger-Cats

The Red and White will be back at McMahon Stadium for a tilt with the BC Lions on Aug. 13 with a 7:00 p.m. MT start.
