Stamps Defence Dominates In Hamilton

Make it two in a row for the Red and White.

The Stampeders picked up their second win in as many weeks 44-20 over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday afternoon to get back to a .500 record.

The Stamps defence played a massive role, picking up four sacks, a pick six, two forced fumbles and returning one for a touchdown in the win.

Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. continued firing away, throwing his league leading 21st touchdown en route to the victory.

The Stamps started the game down three heading into their first offensive drive. That didn’t matter as Adams connected on a 43-yard touchdown pass to Dejon Brissett. That marked Brissett’s fifth of the season, tying a career-high he set back in 2023.

The defence stepped up on the following drive when Kyle Wilson jabbed the ball away from Tre Ford for the forced fumble that was recovered and returned for 32-yards by Anthony Johnson.

Fast forward to the second quarter with less than two minutes remaining. Tyreik McAllister continued his scoring ways, picking up a 15-yard rushing touchdown. That’s his fourth touchdown in his last two games played.

The Red and White defence continued their dominant performance when Marquel Lee forced a fumble that was recovered and brought back for a 28-yard touchdown by Wilson. The Stamps headed into half with a 24-9 lead.

In the fourth quarter, short-yardage QB Quincy Vaughn came in to punch in a four-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 37-20.

Derrick Moncrief put the cherry on top of the cake when he picked off Harrison Frost’s pass attempt and brought it back 25-yards for a pick-six to close out the win.

The Stamps remain in Southern Ontario to prepare for their next Thursday night matchup against the Toronto Argonauts on Aug. 6.

The Red and White will return to McMahon Stadium for a tilt with the BC Lions on Aug. 13 with a 7:00 p.m. start.
