It’s Fanfest time this Saturday

One of the Calgary Stampeders’ most-anticipated events is back for another season as Fanfest will be held at McMahon Stadium this Saturday, May 13.

This free event is suitable for the entire family and gets under way with a pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m. in the East parking lot.

The activities move inside the stadium at 9:30 a.m. with booths, partner activations, games and activities on the McMahon turf. Fans will get the opportunity to walk through the locker room, meet Ralph the Dog and Quick Six the Stampeders touchdown horse and get autographs from players and alumni.

Current players scheduled to appear are Andrew Buckley, Rob Cote, Ben D’Aguilar, Brad Erdos, Dan Federkeil, Deron Mayo, Rob Maver, Bo Levi Mitchell, Charlie Power, Alex Singleton, Quinn Smith, Adam Thibault, Spencer Wilson and Anthony Woodson while the alumni group includes three-time Most Outstanding Canadian Jon Cornish, who now serves as a game-day ambassador for the Stamps.

President and general manager John Hufnagel as well as head coach Dave Dickenson and members of his staff will also be in attendance.

Other items of interest at Fanfest include:

  • A chance to test show off your football skills at the adidas Combine Zone
  • Test your spin rate, spiral efficiency and velocity at the WilsonX football-toss station
  • Stop by the ATB booth for games and a photo booth
  • Test your target skills at the Kal Tire Football Toss
  • An opportunity to taste test new McMahon Stadium concession items including a foot-long hot dog with roasted corn salsa and zesty BBQ sauce, jumbo crispy turkey wings and ice-cold cherry lemonade
  • In addition, food and beverage items for sale on the TELUS Patio include cheeseburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and water
  • Club Stamps, presented by Summit Kids, will officially be launched. Club Stamps is open to kids of all ages and is a free all-access pass to exclusive discounted ticket offers, event invites and information about all family-related activities from the Stamps
  • Kids can also register for Jr. Stamps Camp, presented by Southland Transportation. The event, which features Stamps rookies coaching youngsters and running them through football drills, will be held at McMahon Stadium on May 27. The cost is $15 per registrant
  • The Outriders, presented by Century Downs and Century Casino, will perform routines and greet fans
  • Fans can pose for a photo with the Grey Cup
  • The new 2017 authentic merchandise will be available at the Stamps Store

 

The Fanfest fun continues until 1 p.m.

Deron Mayo, the winner of the Presidents’ Ring — which goes to the Stampeders player who best demonstrates excellence on and off the field — will be honoured at Fanfest. The team will also acknowledge Herm Harrison Memorial Award winner Bo Levi Mitchell for his tireless community involvement.

The Stampeders’ Ticket Office will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as season-ticket holders will be able to pick up their 2017 ticket packages. The Stamps Store will also be open during those hours.
