It’s time for the annual Corey Mace turkey drive

Calgary Stampeders coach Corey Mace is once again spearheading a turkey and ham drive to help families in need during the holidays.

Mace started the program in 2013 when he was a player with the Stamps and has continued the tradition since becoming the Red and White’s defensive line coach in 2016.

“This is meant to be a joyous time of year and for some families it’s a struggle financially,” said Mace. “We want to make sure families have a good meal to help them share the good times during the holiday season. I’ve always believed that no Christmas is complete without a turkey or ham dinner and this is our way of trying to make sure that happens for as many families as possible.”

Last year, a record total of 280 turkeys and hams were collected for delivery to the Airdrie Food Bank, CUPS and Enviros Wilderness School.

“Stamps fans have been extremely generous and the drive keeps getting bigger and better,” said Mace. “I’m confident they’ll come through again.

There are three locations to make a turkey or ham donation:

  • At the Stampeders Administration Office located on the southwest corner of McMahon Stadium. Donations can be made on Friday, Dec. 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • At Sobeys in Airdrie (65 MacKenzie Way SW) on Saturday, Dec. 16 from noon to 2 p.m.
  • At the Aspen Landing Shopping Centre Safeway (375 Aspen Glen Landing SW) on Sunday, Dec. 17 from noon to 2 p.m.

On Monday, Dec. 18, Mace will personally be delivering the donated items to the Airdrie Food Bank, CUPS and Enviros Wilderness School.
