Hunchak is in his second season on the Calgary coaching staff as a special teams and offensive assistant after concluding a five-year playing career as a receiver in the CFL including 50 regular-season games and four playoff contests as a member of the Stampeders.
As a player, Hunchak – a Calgary native – joined his hometown team in 2019 after being selected in the eighth round of the draft. In addition to his contributions on the field, Hunchak was the 2022 recipient of the team’s Herm Harrison Memorial Award for his work in the community.
Hunchak wrapped up his career as a player with three games for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2024.
Prior to turning pro, Hunchak was a two-time second-team Ontario University Athletics all-star at York. In 2018, he finished fourth in the OUA with 58 receptions and had 610 receiving yards and six touchdown catches. In 2016, he earned second-team all-conference honours after making 43 catches for 588 yards and five touchdowns.
Hunchak is an alumnus of Calgary’s Notre Dame High School and was a three-time provincial all-star with the Pride. He won a silver medal with Team Canada at the U-19 world championships in Kuwait in 2014 and represented his country at three consecutive U-19 International Bowls in Dallas.
