Johnson signed with the National Football League’s Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2014. He played seven games for Miami during the 2014 season and was placed on the injured-reserve list on Dec. 13, 2014. Johnson was waived by the Dolphins on Sept. 5, 2015, and he joined the Washington Redskins’ practice squad on Nov. 9, 2015. After being released by the Redskins on May 2, 2016, he signed with the New England Patriots on May 9, 2016. Johnson played four games for the Patriots before being released and signed to New England’s practice squad. He was claimed off the Patriots’ practice squad by the New York Jets on Nov. 9, 2016, and played seven games. Johnson joined the Indianapolis Colts’ practice roster on Nov. 7, 2017, and was promoted to the active roster on Dec. 6, 2017. He played four games for the Colts in 2017. Johnson signed with the Memphis Express of the Alliance of American Football in 2019.
Johnson played 40 games over three seasons (2011-13) at Louisiana State University. His game total included 16 starts at defensive tackle. Johnson finished his career with the Tigers with 77 tackles including 22 tackles for loss and seven sacks. He earned second-team all-Southeastern Conference honours in 2013 after recording 35 tackles including nine tackles for loss and three sacks in 13 games.
Johnson appeared in a total of 22 NFL games over three seasons and recorded 15 tackles and one fumble recovery. He is an alumnus of O.P. Walker High School in New Orleans. He was named Louisiana’s high school player of the year in 2010 and set a state record with 67.5 career sacks.
