2025

(Calgary) In his second season with the Red and White, Hicks played and started all 18 regular-season games at defensive end and was the team’s nominee for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player award as well as a West Division all-star. He had 28 tackles including five tackles for loss, a team-leading 12 sacks, two forced fumbles and six knockdowns. Hicks had a pair of sacks – including one that forced a fumble – and also pressured the quarterback into an international-grounding penalty in a Week 6 victory over Saskatchewan. He had another two sacks in the Week 12 rematch against the Roughriders. In a Labour Day Classic victory over Edmonton, Hicks had three tackles including a tackle for loss, a sack and a knockdown. He had a pair of sacks in Week 18 at BC and again in Week 19 at Hamilton. Hicks started the Western Semi-Final at BC and had three defensive tackles.

2024

(Calgary) Hicks played all 18 games including one start at defensive end and was the Stampeders’ nominee for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie award. For the season, he had 14 defensive tackles including two tackles for loss, four sacks, two interceptions, one knockdown and one special-teams stop. In his CFL debut in Week 1 against Hamilton, he recorded his first CFL sack when he brought down Bo Levi Mitchell. Hicks sacked Mitchell twice more in a Week 20 contest in Hamilton. In Week 4, Hicks picked off a pass by Winnipeg’s Zach Collaros for his first CFL interception.

College           

Hicks played 38 games over three seasons at the University of Texas at San Antonio (2019-21). He was a first-team Conference USA all-star linebacker for the Roadrunners in 2021 after establishing a single-season school record with 10.5 sacks. Hicks also had 37 tackles and an interception. Over the course of three years at UTSA, he accumulated 108 tackles including 31 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and two interceptions. Hicks transferred to UTSA after two years (2017-18) at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College. In 12 games with the Blue Dragons, he had 42 tackles, 14 sacks and two forced fumbles. Hicks was named a second-team Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference all-star in 2018.

Personal

Hicks is an alumnus of Pine Forest High School in Pensacola, Fla. During his senior season with the Eagles, he had 47 tackles including nine tackles for loss, three sacks and a fumble-return touchdown.
