2024

(Saskatchewan) Onyeka played all 18 regular-season games for the Roughriders and finished fifth on the team with 10 special-teams tackles. He recorded a pair of special-teams stops in a Week 13 game against Winnipeg. Onyeka was in uniform for both the Western Semi-Final and Western Final and recorded one defensive tackle and two special-teams tackles.

2023

(Saskatchewan) Onyeka suffered a torn pectoral muscle during training camp and was sidelined until Week 17. He dressed for the final four games of the season and had one special-teams tackle.

2022

(Saskatchewan) Onyeka missed a large portion of the season with a shoulder injury before being activated for the final two games of the season. He made two defensive tackles and two special-teams tackles.

2021

(Saskatchewan) In his first season with the Roughriders, Onyeka played nine games and made five starts. He made a career-high 24 defensive tackles including one tackle for loss and added seven special-teams takedowns and one knockdown. Onyeka had a career-best eight defensive tackles in Week 6 at Winnipeg and had seven tackles in Week 10 against Calgary. He was also in uniform for the Western Final.

2020

(Edmonton) Onyeka was under contract with Edmonton but the season was cancelled because of the global pandemic.

2019

(Edmonton) Onyeka appeared in all 18 regular-season contests for Edmonton, registering three defensive tackles, 13 special-teams stops, and one fumble recovery. He had his first career fumble recovery in Week 8 at Calgary and had a pair of games in which he notched two special-teams tackles – in Week 10 at Toronto and in Week 12 at Calgary. In the playoffs, Onyeka recorded two defensive tackles and one special-teams stop in the Eastern Semi-Final and one defensive tackle, one fumble recovery and one knockdown in the Eastern Final.

2018

(Edmonton) Onyeka played nine games as a rookie including three starts. He made two defensive tackles and also had a knockdown. Onyeka made his CFL debut on the season-opener at Winnipeg and in Week 10 against Montreal he picked up first two career tackles and also had a knockdown.

College

Onyeka played four seasons at Wilfrid Laurier and was part of the Golden Hawks’ Ontario University Athletics championship team in 2016. He had 186 career tackles including 6.5 tackles for loss, 10 interceptions including a pick-six, two sacks, six forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and a blocked kick. Onyeka was a member of the OUA all-rookie team in 2014 and a first-team conference defensive all-star as well as a first-team all-Canadian in 2015, 2016 and 2017. In addition to his first-team all-star recognition on defence in 2017, he was also a second-team honouree on special teams.

Personal

Onyeka is an alumnus of St. Edmund Campion Secondary School in Brampton, Ont. His younger brother Kene has been a member of the Ottawa Redblacks since 2019 while his cousin Kosi Onyeka was his teammate in Saskatchewan for three seasons (2022-24).
