Selected by Calgary in the seventh round (60th overall) of the 2024 draft and signed on May 3, 2024.

(Calgary) Before returning to university for his final season, Sombach attended training camp with the Stampeders. He saw action in both pre-season games, recording a pair of defensive tackles.

College           

Sombach played 38 games over six seasons (2018-19, 2021-24) at the University of Regina and was a two-time Canada West all-star. During his time with the Rams, he recorded 141 tackles, one sack, four interceptions, two fumble recoveries and 24 passes defended. In 2024, Sombach earned second-team all-Canadian honours after recording 38 tackles, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and nine passes defended in 11 games. One of the interceptions came in the Rams’ Hardy Cup victory over Saskatchewan.

Personal

Sombach is an alumnus of Miller Comprehensive High School in Regina. During his senior season with the Marauders, he recorded 23 tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery and two pass deflections.
