College           

Gatewood played his senior season (2023) as a tight end at the University of Louisville. He played 11 games for the Cardinals and nine catches for 150 yards and three touchdowns. Gatewood had a 34-yard touchdown catch in Louisville’s home-opening win over Murray State. He had season highs of three catches and 51 receiving yards in a November win at Miami. In 2021, Gatewood played quarterback at Central Florida and in 10 games as a backup for the Knights, he completed two passes for 17 yards and one touchdown while carrying the ball 28 times for 142 yards and one score. He transferred to Central Florida after one season (2020) at Kentucky. In seven games for the Wildcats, he completed 17 passes for 109 yards and had 25 carries for 62 yards. Gatewood started his collegiate career with two years (2018-19) at Auburn. He appeared in eight games as a backup QB for the Tigers, completing five passes for 54 yards and two majors and rushing for 176 yards. Gatewood’s first NCAA touchdown pass came in a 2019 game at Texas A&M.

Personal

Gatewood is an alumnus of Bartram Trail High School in St. Johns, Fla. He led the Bears to the Florida Class 7A finals as a senior in 2017 as he passed for 1,468 and 12 touchdowns and ran for 1,100 yards and 16 TDs. Gatewood also competed in track and field at Bartram Trail. He has a twin brother named Dominick.
