Over the course of his career, he accumulated 220 tackles including 48 tackles for loss and 25 sacks and was a three-time Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference first-team all-star.
Colling was born in the U.S. but qualified for Canadian citizenship and national status in the CFL because his father Kirby was born in Hamilton, Ont. He was also a two-time conference, division and sectional champion in wrestling at Pioneer.
