Traded from Saskatchewan on Sept. 29, 2015, in exchange for the rights to national offensive lineman Aaron Picton.
Richards signed with the Roughriders as a free agent on May 29, 2015. Richards was signed as an undrafted free agent by the National Football League’s San Diego Chargers on Apr. 27, 2013. He was added to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad on Sept. 19, 2013, and released on Oct. 16, 2013.
(Calgary) Richards started nine games at left tackle. He was on the reserve list for Games 1, 2 and 4-8 and on the one-game injury list for Games 14 and 16. Richards started both the Western Final and the Grey Cup at left tackle.
(Calgary) Richards had five starts including three at left tackle and two at right tackle. He started the season on the one-game injury list and was later moved to the practice roster before being activated for Game 12. He was on the reserve list for Game 16.
(Saskatchewan/Calgary) Richards played two games for the Roughriders, starting both contests at right tackle. He was on the practice roster when he first joined the Stamps and was on the reserve list for Game 16. He played in the final regular-season game in BC.
First CFL game: Aug. 22, 2015, vs Calgary
Richards played two seasons at Missouri State (2011-12) and made 22 starts at right tackle. He was a co-captain for the Bears in 2012 and earned second-team all-Missouri Valley Conference honours. Prior to attending Missouri State, he played two seasons at the College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Calif.
Richards was on the football, basketball and wrestling teams at Royal Palm Beach High School in Florida.
